Green Screen
Welcome to the DNCC Green Screen – a series of webisodes that will peel back the curtain on our work to green the 2008 Democratic National Convention and ideally encourage you and many others like you to follow our lead in making more sustainable choices in your own lives. Continue to check back in the weeks and months ahead for new editions of the DNCC Green Screen.
Episode 5: Headquarters Hotel
As the headquarters hotel for the 2008 Democratic National Convention, the Hyatt Regency Denver employs a number of energy-saving practices, helping to reduce the hotel's carbon footprint and increase savings on operations costs.
Episode 4: Wind Power in Wray
The DNCC Green Delegate Challenge encourages delegates to purchase carbon offsets for their travel to the 2008 Democratic National Convention. These offsets will help fund projects like the wind turbine featured in this video from Wray, Colo.
Please note: Wind turbines shut down when the wind becomes too strong. On this day the wind was around 68 miles per hour!
Episode 3: Composting
We take a trip to the A-1 Organics Facility in Platteville, Colorado, to find out more about what happens to the organic material the Green Team will collect during the Convention.
Episode 2: Climate Change
With the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, we are fortunate to be close to some of the leading climate change researchers. For the second episode of the Green Screen, we went to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, here in Colorado.
Episode 1: Recycling
In this first episode of the DNCC Green Screen, we visit the Alpine Waste and Recycling facility in Denver, where all of the recycling for the DNCC offices is handled.
